What is an MOT?

If the vehicle you own and drive is over three years old, then you are required by law to keep it in a safe and roadworthy condition. The purpose of an MOT test simply assesses whether or not your Car, Van or 4X4 meets the minimum road safety and environmental standard.
Car & Van MOTS can only be conducted by trained and qualified specialists at centres authorised by the Vehicle & Operator Services Industry (VOSA). You'll be glad to hear that at East Hill Garage we are able to offer our customers MOT services for all Class 4 Vehicles (including 4X4 and Vans under 7 tonne).

If your car requires an MOT then call us on 01206 864 684 or alternatively e-mail us at
Remember without a valid MOT certificate you are not legally entitled or insured to be on the road unless you are driving to an MOT centre where you have an appointment booked. Remember failure to have your MOT tested may result in a hefty fine so don't take the chance.

What does your MOT test include?

Your MOT check will include the inspection of:

- Vehicle Identification Number
- Lights in working order
- Steering and suspension
- Registration plate
- Windscreen, wipers and washer bottles
- Horn
- Seatbelts and seats
- Mirrors
- Brakes, wheels and tyres
- Vehicle body is free from corrosion, weak points or sharp corners
- Fuel system and emission levels.
